I love getting a bunch of poets together and hosting an evening – or sometimes an afternoon. In 2018/9 I curated, promoted and compered a new monthly spoken word event in Belper, called Word Peace, with headliners including Sophie Sparham, Leanne Moden, Carol Robson and Akor O.S. Opaluwah. I also organised the spoken word for Duffield Arts Festival in 2018 and 2019 and for Belper Goes Green in 2018, 2019 and 2022.
My performances include supporting Ray Cooper (The Oysterband) in Southwell, being part of the spoken word showcase at Derby Folk Festival Free Fringe in 2018, supporting Vanessa Kisuule at Derby Poetry Festival in 2018 and supporting Nafeesa Hamid for National Poetry Day at Derby Library in 2019.
Workshops
I founded Ripley Writers’ Group in 2013 with the help of Emma Pass and the support of the library service. I continued to organise it until September 2017, when members jointly took over the running of the group. Ripley Writers’ Group still currently meets in Ripley Library.
